Since 1969, RMO Data Services® has engaged in an ongoing program of progress through continuous research and providing services directed at orthodontic needs. RMODS® has a reservoir of over 600,000 cases.
The Data Services system is based upon case and research information derived from a worldwide orthodontic network consisting of practicing orthodontists, universities and researchers. The information contained in the Data Services computer represents the latest scientific findings in the field of orthodontics. This information is used along with the doctor’s personal treatment philosophy to form a complete detailed analysis of each patient prior and during treatment.
The descriptive and visual materials can aid you in five basic areas: analysis, treatment planning, treatment control, case presentation, and marketing.
RMODS® serves individual clinicians, study groups and institutions in cooperative research projects.
Five Basic Areas of Service
The analysis paints a comprehensive picture of your patient’s condition. It describes cephalometrically the current dental and skeletal relationships compared with individualized norms in which age, race and gender are considered. Treatment must meet the needs of the individual because people are different.
RMODS® originated the use of the frontal analysis. When used in conjunction with the arch analysis, you get a full, three-dimensional visualization of your patient.
Each racial group has its own skeletal and dental characteristics, as well as different growth rates and patterns. Our computer programs are designed to integrate this divergence in helping you determine the individual patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan. The program can also detect abnormal craniofacial or mandibular growth patterns, which may not be apparent upon visual inspection. Probabilities of third molar impaction are estimated. The nasopharyngeal airway and adenoids are also analyzed to evaluate the potential affects on facial morphology. Specific dental and skeletal problem areas are clearly identified so that they may be incorporated into your treatment planning.
Treatment planning involves determining before treatment is actually started, what course of action can be taken, the degree of difficulty of the case and the expected treatment time.
The Data Services system provides a visual blueprint of suggested dental and skeletal changes. These workups are constructed with your personal preferences concerning extraction, convexity change, esthetics, limits of tooth movements, and preference of mechanics. With the computer workup in your possession, you need to spend only a few minutes on case analysis and possible slight modification of the computer’s simulation in order to have a detailed plan of how to proceed with each case.
Treatment control helps you to know, at any given time, if your treatment is on schedule, how much more time must be spent treating the case, and if your patient is cooperating. You receive charts, which tell you at a glance what treatment activities should be occurring and when the next progress records need to be taken.
Case presentation helps you communicate to the patient the specific benefits and values of orthodontic treatment. You can visually demonstrate esthetic change, growth, and need for orthodontic treatment. The Data Services Package, through its clear, simple illustration allows the patient to see his current condition, what will occur naturally if treatment is not undertaken, and what the result will be if orthodontic treatment is selected.
In cases with possibilities of abnormalities, special alerts can be generated, such as TMJ potentials or possible excessive mandibular growth.
Marketing is a necessity to maintain volume as well as for practice growth. The DataServices package provides visual aids, which help communicate to potential patients the orthodontic problems, the severity, the optimum time for treatment, the probable type of treatment, and the attainable results. The Data Services package is also a powerful patient motivation tool. It shows the milestones of treatment providing a system for communication, which can greatly enhance patient cooperation.
RMO Data Services® incorporates all types of treatment approaches. The workups are tailored for each doctor’s treatment philosophy, as well as the particular patient.
