My name is David Suarez Quintanilla, and I am the Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. I am a doctor of medicine and surgery, specializing in Dentistry and Orthodontics. More than 15 years ago I launched the Master of Orthodontics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and am currently the Director of Research in Orthodontics and Dento-Facial Growth at USC.

Many of the popular techniques in our field were invented over 50 years ago by leaders now deceased, creating a serious problem in the update of techniques with new technologies. However, evidence based treatment derived from the results of scientific research has presented a revolution by forcing us to review and reassess all our ideas and clinical procedures. It was in this time of change in the history of orthodontics that the SWLF technique appeared.

I have practiced orthodontics exclusively for over 25 years and treated more than 5000 patients, mostly with the SWLF technique. Throughout my career I have used different types of devices and systems and I know well the major contemporary fixed techniques, their advantages and limitations. About 15 years ago I began to develop a therapeutic philosophy with protocols for diagnosis and treatment in order to improve the standardization of procedures for clinical orthodontists in training. With the help of the RMO engineers for over 10 years, I incorporated into my clinic one of the best and most efficient combinations of brackets and wires existing in the market, the bracket Synergy® and the Thermalloy and Beta III Titanium wires, supported by numerous recent scientific papers.

Our Goal TOGETHER:

I wish all the RMO dealers around the world to share with me my enthusiasm for the SWLF technique and that they be aware of its importance in the future of the company, customer loyalty and sales. My passion is orthodontics both in clinical practice, patient relations and teaching, and is what I have dedicated myself to doing for more than 25 years. In my years of experience teaching SWLF courses around the world I’ve realized that the success of a technique and its spread depends heavily on the RMO dealer in each country, their work with dentists, and their ability to organize courses, conferences or just meetings to talk about the RMO products and techniques. For my part as a speaker I hope not to disappoint, and wish to stimulate interest from professionals in the SWLF technique. I am convinced that with everyone’s efforts we will succeed and the SWLF technique will soon be a world gold standard.
